Job Description:

 Medical Affairs Officer at Kyowa Kirin are therapy area experts and are key to enhancing and communicating complex cutting edge scientific information and research concepts of diseases supported by the Kyowa Kirin`s portfolio.

Working in collaboration with the Commercial, Market Access Manager and the Marketing Department. Medical Affairs Officer will help to increase the field-based presence and scientific capability, working in partnership with clinicians as a resource of fair-balanced and scientifically-rigorous information.

They identify and develop strong sustainable peer to peer relationships to support the medical / scientific credibility of Kyowa Kirin.

Execution of the International Operational Strategic Plan locally.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Identify opportunities to support and enhance patient care – including providing advice on investigator initiated studies (ISS) in collaboration with the International Medical function.

  • Provide oversight and liaison for such locally running studies.

  • Contribute with feedback/input to local and international data generation strategies.

  • Assists in the conduct of feasibilities for development studies on request from International Medical.

  • Develop disease management strategies in conjunction with the Business Unit and International Medical departments.

Collaborate with International Medical to execute the affiliate-based medical strategic plans in alignment with international medical strategy and therapy area objectives.

  • Communicate balanced, substantiated and relevant scientific information for internal and external stakeholders. Respond professionally to clinical information and data request in relation to disease or treatment specific questions or off-license queries.

  • Ensure appropriate response to unsolicited scientific requests by HCP`s for licensed products/brands (on and off label), and for products in development in different clinical trials phases, by providing accurate scientific data in compliance with Company Policies, and country specific legal and ethical requirements.

  • Develop proactive long-term engagement with key opinion leaders, investigators and external experts in order to improve Kyowa Kirin´s understanding of the external environment and the safe and effective options for disease treatment and management.

  • Develop KOL engagement plans and associated patient value insights and outcomes.

  • Actively develop agendas for, and participate in, advisory board meetings and clinical investigator meetings.

  • Facilitate expert lectures with external expert speakers with national, regional, or global recognition.

  • Support International Medical Affairs Department in developing and implementing local Early Access/Named patient/Compassionate use program.

  • Attend national, regional and international scientific meetings, congresses and symposia to update therapeutic area knowledge and understand and interact with the expert environment.

  • Maintain clinical, scientific and technical expertise in relevant product and disease area.

  • Adherence to all company and regulatory compliance policies in word and in spirit.

  • Communicate effectively to the appropriate personnel any properly acquired intelligence, horizon scanning information, scientific and any other relevant clinical information.

  • Provide medical support and act as a scientific partner for healthcare professionals.

  • Gain and maintain good understanding of the quality system within the company, including PV, product complaint/recall handling and GDP.

  • Provide training and development to the Business Unit in order to enhance understanding of company’s therapeutic areas.

  • Prepare publication and communication plan for each clinical initiative according to the local Medical Strategic plan and in transparency and alignment with the Corporate Medical strategies.

  • Develop medical materials for use in presentations to and/or by healthcare professionals.

  • In collaboration with therapy area colleagues in International Medical and other affiliates track and manage an evidence base in areas critical for the therapy/disease area.

  • Locally implement any centrally driven or approved risk mitigation programs.

Requirements and qualifications:

  • Relevant medical/pharmacy/nursing/bioscience background (higher degree and relevant registration preferred). Knowledge of Regulatory Affairs, legal and compliance regulations and authorities nationally.

  • Extensive experience in Medical Affairs Department or Clinical Operations department.

  • In-depth knowledge of local, regional and national healthcare systems and processes for allocation and delivery of care.

  • Track record of successful cross functional team working locally and internationally.

  • Working experience in orphan/ultra-orphan therapy areas (preferred).

  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to understand healthcare professional prospective and forge long term relations of mutual value.

  • Therapy area experience (preferred).

  • Acts as role model for others in line with Kyowa Kirin.

  • Excellent command in English and a Nordic language, other languages are considered as plus.

  • Physical Requirements: (travel, lifting, typing, driving, sitting, special requirements around hours, etc.)

    • Must hold valid driving license

    • Regional and International travel including time away from home
